Details

my Video Poster 2 is a major step forward from our very popular MVP1 series plugin.

MVP2 comes with our new administration framework which not only looks much better; it is also very intuitive and gives you quick over view and access to the sections you want.

Rather than using the accordion menu system that MVP1 used; we are now using a tab menu system which gives you a much better over view of the section you are looking at.

Dashboard View

The Dashboard View has two boxes which shows you your MVP2 installations basic stats, such as number of videos posted and when the next automatic CRON is scheduled to run; you also have a box showing you the last five videos posted, complete with video thumbnail, post title and link to the post, an abbreviated video description and two links to quick edit or delete the post directly from the dashboard.

You also have the option to manually trigger CRON to auto post videos per your setup; new for MVP2 is the ability to paste the complete URL of a Youtube video, select the category you wish to post to and MVP2 will create a video post from that URL complete with thumbnail, video, description and comments.

You now have the ability to automatically post individual videos instead of auto-blogging complete RSS feeds - never has it been so easy to post a video with WordPress.

Video RSS Feeds

MVP2 allows you to post videos from a Youtube RSS feed and select a different WordPress category for each feed; this would allow you to add a feed about cute kittens and another feed about clumpsy dogs to your animal videos category while having a third feed pull all the latest Hollywood blockbuster trailers into your movie preview category.

The options are endless - only your imagination will limit you to what types of videos you want to add to your WordPress web site.

New for MVP2 is an extended support for Youtubes many RSS feeds such as per user, per keyword and per tags; for more information on Youtube RSS feeds, check out theirabout RSS feeds page.

Extended Configuration

The configuration tab gives you an easy to over view of the inner workings of MVP2; it is setup in several sections.
  • Automation- Add CRON and posting frequency (number of posts per x minutes)
  • Posting Settings - Check each video first if it is embeddable before importing, set the status of each post (draft or publish) and what user to post as.
  • Media Settings - Post video width and height settings and Post Template settings (more below)
  • Custom Fields - If your theme uses custom fields for videos and thumbnails, you can optionally set MVP2 to set them automatically
  • Blog Integration - Optionally Create tags with a max number and set min/max tag length, import Youtube comments as WordPress comments (more below)
  • Warnings & Notifications - Optionally have MVP2 notify you via email if it encounters errors with one of the RSS feeds
  • RSS Integration - Have MVP2 include the thumbnails of each video in your RSS feed

Post Template

New with MVP2 is the ability to create your own post layout using HTML and our handy dandy %macros%.

The macros are: %picture%, %pictureurl%, %video%, %videourl%, %content% and %title%.

Create Comments

Have MVP2 create comments, importing them from the Youtube video to give your blog that socially crowded look by adding related comments that are moderated so you remove all the F words and other less socially accepted language... Automatically!

Easy Log Over View

We have also added a nice Log tab for you to check out the last 30 videos posted to your blog, with thumbnails, title and abbreviated content with Quick edit and delete links; basically the same as the dashboard view but more!  ...and there is also a progress log showing the last 100 things MVP2 has been up to.

Known Issues (Plugin conflicts)

Twitter Tools

There is an issue with how Twitter Tools includes its own javascript which causes a visual bug (tabs do not work) – however the rest of the plugin still works.

Solution: When configuring MVP2, setting up feeds or view log – please temporarily disable Twitter Tools to gain access to those tabs and when done re-enable Twitter Tools.
